Technical conference of Young Members’ section(YMS) - The Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) will be held in October 2021 in parallel to the IESL Annual Sessions. It is a great opportunity for all young engineering professionals below 35 years age including student members of IESL to present their technical papers and discuss engineering related topics with industry professionals and academia.
Submission Guidelines:
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. Accepted submissions will later be published in the YMS Digital Proceedings Volume.
Papers from the following categories are welcome:
Aeronautical Engineering
Biomedical Engineering
Chemical Engineering
Civil Engineering
Computer Science Engineering
Electrical, Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering
Marine Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Engineering Management / Manufacturing / Sustainable built environment
Authors are invited to submit their abstracts to IESL Young Members’ Conference. The review process is carried out using the double-blinded method. Therefore, when submitting the abstracts, authors are requested not to enter the author names and affiliations.
Closing date for submission of abstracts is30th of April 2021.
Extended Deadline for submission of abstracts – 15th of May 2021
Notification of the acceptance of the abstracts will be sent on or before 31st of May 2021.
Eligibility : Since YMS technical conference aims to encourage young members, at least one author (except supervisor(s)) must be a young member (below 35 years old to the date of abstract submission). Further, the accepted paper(s) should be presented at the conference only by a young member.

Awards
Three best papers will be awarded based on overall performance, theoretical aspects, and a solution for an existing engineering issue. The best paper will be entitled to the prestigious late Eng. Chandrasena Award.
Engineering Council Sri Lanka (ECSL) Registration Fee
ECSL Registration Fee - Rs. 1000.00 per annum
Relevant Information on ECSL Registration Fee:
Engineering Council, Sri Lanka has been established by Engineering Council, Sri Lanka Act, No 4 of 2017 passed in the Parliament of The Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. According to clause 14 of said act, no engineering practitioner shall engage in the practice of engineering profession unless such engineering practitioner is registered under ECSL. In order to register in the ECSL under one of the following Member categories, one has to be an active Member of the IESL and has paid annual subscriptions for the IESL Membership and ECSL Subscription for the current year. Please note that IESL Members have to pay ECSL registration fee to the IESL by using any of the payment methods available in the IESL (Click). Names of those Members will be sent to the ECSL by the IESL for registration during the first week of each month.
a) Chartered Engineer - Corporate Members of the IESL (Fellow and Member Categories of the IESL)
b) Associate Engineer - Associate Members of the IESL
c) Affiliate Engineer - Affiliate Members of the IESL
IESL will generate a separate invoice each year, for the ECSL annual registration payment.
Honorary Life Fellows (HLF) and Honorary Life Members (HLM) who are not required to pay IESL membership fee, will have to pay the ECSL registration fee if they intend to actively practice as engineers.
IESL Members who are employed overseas or not practicing engineering in Sri Lanka may not need to register in ECSL. However, they should inform the same by an email addressed to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Those who do not pay ECSL registration fee on or before 31stJanuary of each year will be removed from the ECSL Registries (pls refer ECSL website: www.ecsl.lk) and will appear in ECSL registries only upon such payments to IESL. Note that, only paying ECSL registration fee, one cannot register in ECSL.
