PREAMBLE
The Women Engineers’ Forum (WEF) of The Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) was formed in May 2002 to give the opportunity to women engineers to be engaged more meaningfully in IESL activities.


VISION
To strengthen the Women Engineers of the IESL to play an active role in its endeavors to improve the quality of life of the people within the objectives of the IESL.


MISSION
To utilize the full potential of Women Engineers qualitatively and quantitatively for all progressive activities of the IESL by developing greater bond amongst the members whilst enhancing professional competency to cater for the country’s need for continuous improvement of socio-economic standards.

 

OBJECTIVES
1. Create a comfortable environment where women engineers can demonstrate their own abilities such as leadership qualities, communication, and presentation skills, so that they are prepared to face the challenges of the world of work.
2. Empower the women engineers by strengthening the weak areas identified during discussions and support them to reach the full potential in their career.
3. Encourage the Women Engineers to get involved in different activities within the society and contribute their technical knowledge to the national development.
4. Promote networking and friendship among the members, and form a forum to discuss matters of importance in their careers
5. Provide the opportunity to lend a hand to the needy by conducting charity events
6. Encourage the female school children who have the passion to get into engineering but are reluctant due to social pressures, to follow the engineering stream and contribute to the national development efforts, without the gender biases.
7. Provide career guidance and leadership development through mentoring of junior female engineers.
