Vertical transportation systems include all kinds of transportation media within buildings such as Stairs, lifts, escalators, Ramps, Moving Walks (pallet) etc. It is considered one of the most important building services system for high-rise buildings. From high rise buildings to airports, vertical transportation systems play a key role when it comes to the usage, attractiveness as well as safety. Therefore, in the modern world those transportation systems play a key role in every aspect of the infrastructure and building projects.
ETA MELCO Elevator CO Doha WLL, - the Mitsubishi Elevators arm in Qatar sponsored a CPD session to IESL Qatar Chapter members on above subject. The program briefly touched on the following areas.
- Different Products/Special Features/Latest Technologies (Such as double deck elevator at Menara Telekom Taipi)
- Elevator Safety measures & precautions
- Basic Elevator Installation Procedures
- Preventive Maintenance (Modernization Vs Replacement)
- Design considerations of elevators/ escalators (mechanical, civil & electrical)
The informative knowledge sharing session ended with a Q & A session which allowed the participants to clear out the grey areas related to the subject.
The CPD was conducted at Fraser Suites, Corniche on 24th March 2017 with the participation of about 40 Sri Lankan Engineers together with several guest invitees
