Although Toastmasters is considered as a platform to develop the speaking and presentation skills, it’s a way to enhance the leadership skills as well as the communication skills. With the aim of forming a new Toastmaster club for IESL Qatar Chapter members, the CPD subcommittee of the chapter organized a CPD session demonstrating how a real Toastmaster session happens.
The event took place on 28th April at the Shalimar Darbar Hotel, Doha. The demo was conducted by the Smedley Toastmasters club of Doha, on the request of Area 43 Director, Dr Abdul Hameed Pathiyil (P,ACS,ALB) There were participants only from the IESL Qatar chapter but extended to many Sri Lankan professionals living in Qatar. The event successfully ended with the final objective of forming an independent Toast Masters club for IESL members as well as for other Sri Lankans in Doha. The Smedely Toastmasters club agreed to provide the guidance and also to help the new club function in a smooth manner during the initiation phase.
The Word of the day was “Raison d’etre”
