| The IESL Day event for the year of 2017, was organized and was successfully conducted on 10th of June, 2017 from 9.00am to 5.30pm at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka. The Dean Dr.P.D.C. Perera as the Chief Guest, IESL President Eng. Jayavilal Meegoda graced the event with his presence as the Guest of Honor, IESL Vice President Eng. (Dr.) L.B.K.Laksiri, Chairman IESL Ruhunu Chapter Eng. Sunil Jayawardana, National Sales Manager Melbn Metal M.A.Mifraz, YMS Chairman Eng. Dayan Herath, took part in the technical session as guests and resource personals. The Dean of the faculty, Heads of Departments and students from all three engineering departments participated in the event. |

| The main objective of the IESL day is to uplift the reputation of Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna among various institutes in the country and increasing awareness among students, Engineers, Locals and Lecturers about IESL and its benefits. The welcome speech was given by Dr. N K Hettiarachchi the Senior Treasurer Ruhuna Engineering student chapter of the IESL. And following was speeches by Dr. P D Chandana Perera the Dean Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna, Eng. J. Meegoda the President of the IESL. |

| At the same time, several competitions namely CATIA designing competition, Competition by MMESS and by CEES took place as a part of the event. In Addition, the Bluetooth controlled robot competition also beautified the event. |

| The event sponsor was Melbn Metal (Pvt.) Ltd. and was given a Technical Session by Mr. Karunathilaka the Quality Assurance Manager. |

| The day was entertained by several events conducted by the Art Society of the Faculty. |
| |
|
|
| |
| Another event was the Civil Engineering Consultancy service where Technical Talks were delivered and served as excellent medium of knowledge transfer between Senior Engineers and the Engineering Undergraduates. |

| Moreover, the awarding of certificates to the winners of competitions and presenting of Souvenirs to the respected guests were also part of the event as to be the memorable glimpses. |

The Day came to an end with the Speech by Eng. Dayan Herath the YMS Chairman and with the vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Heshan Perera the Chairman of the Ruhuna Engineering Student Chapter of the IESL.
The organizers would like to thank Eng. Jayavilal Meegoda (President-IESL), Eng. (Dr.) L.B.K.Laksiri (Vice President- IESL), and Eng. Sunil Jayawardana (Chairman -IESL Ruhuna Chapter, Eng. Dayan Herath (Chairman-YMS) for the support rendered for the success of the event Further, we want to take this opportunity to thank the University administration for their support and extend our sincere gratitude to the Dean Dr. P.D.C.Perera for his guidance, and Dr.Nanditha Hettiarachchi, Dr. Thushari Wickramaarachchi and Dr. Ruwan Appuhami for their endless support and guidance. We are grateful to Melbn Metal Pvt Ltd for their gigantic strength in making IESL day 2017 a reality, we would like to mention the chairman, Mr. M Ramzy and Mr. N.A. Mifraz with gratitude. The hard work and commitment of the IESL Students’ Chapter and all participants of the faculty is not to be forgotten at this moment.
