June 30th marked another milestone of the infrastructure developments happening at IESL Secretariat Premises. The long outstanding project, the Construction of new wash room complex and changing rooms was successfully completed within twelve weeks’ time. This wash room complex will cater the increasing demand for next decade. Landscaped with green concepts the facility will provide comfort to our members and staff. The complex is fitted with state of art modern equipment with easy maintenance facilities.

The other projects that are in the pipeline and will be realistic in near future as we receive enormous support and guidance from the President, IESL for session 2016/17 Eng. Jayavilal Meegoda, Finance & Procurement Committee and the Council of IESL. The support received from the staff of the institution is noteworthy.

The refurbishment to the wash rooms in main building too has been commenced with a new lady wash room at first floor .The existing wash room in ground floor will be converted to a members’ waiting area at the end.

Introducing Solar Power system under the green concept is another step of the Infrastructure Development at IESL. Nineteen bids were received from the reputed companies specialized in this field. Bids are under evaluation stage.

The architectural design concept for the proposed refurbishment of the Wimalsurendra Auditorium is now ready for commence the construction. Tenders will be called shortly for civil and electro mechanical works to select the suitable contractors to execute the works.

5 S Implementation programme at the IESL Secretariat is in progress and the support given by the staff of IESL is commendable.

Installation of six ACs was completed to the middle lecture room of the first floor building and all rooms will be developed for effective use of this area.

In addition, a space survey was done to identify the areas for optimum utilization of buildings. One such area was identified to address much waited requirement of changing and rest areas for the members specially those who come from far to the IESL for different purposes.

Nothing can be achieved overnight and some of the planned items will continue for the years to come. The members’ engagement is very essential to make this task realistic in future. Proposals are welcome from the members through emails.
