Guest Lecture on ‘Value of Civil Engineering with Motivational Highlights’ was organized by IESL Ruhunu Chapter and Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna on 29th May 2017 (Monday) from 8.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. at Lecture Theater 1 (LT1), Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna, Hapugala, Galle.
This lecture was delivered by Eng. H.M.D. Rasika Nath. More than 200 participants including Engineering Undergraduates, Academic Staff Members and Ruhunu Chapter Engineers have attended the event.

| 2. First Planning Circle Meeting (2017) for Engineers in Matara District |

|
First Planning Circle Meeting in year 2017 for Engineers in Matara District was held on 22nd March 2017, 6.30 pm onwards at LHK Hotel, Matara-Akuressa Road, Palatuwa.
IESL Ruhunu Chapter has organized this event with the aim to maintain proper coordination among the engineering organizations in the district by professional consultation among engineers. Such coordination is vital in finding out solutions to engineering problems that arise during various development projects. Also this was an effective forum to promote members to become corporate members and fellows of the institution. Thirty seven engineers including Heads of the Institutions and Chief Engineers have participated in the meeting.

| 3. JIY 2017 Competition Awareness Programme for School Children in Hambantota Schools was conducted by IESL Ruhunu Chapter |

|
IESL Ruhunu Provincial Chapter conducted an awareness programme for school children on “Junior Inventor of the Year Competition (JIY)”. The event was held on 24th February 2017, from 9.00 am to 1.30 pm at Auditorium of the Tissamaharamaya Divisional Secretariat.
This is one of the awareness programmes in the series of awareness programs to be conducted by the IESL Ruhunu Chapter in collaboration with the IESL JIY Steering Committee and the Ruhuna Student Chapter of IESL. Around 50 students from about 7 schools in Hambantota District have participated in the programme.
