“Helping Hand” flood-relief

By PUBLICITY DIVISION (IESL)

The IESL Vadakkin Chapter launched a coordinated “Helping Hand” flood-relief initiative to support severely affected communities across the Northern Province from 30 November to 6 December 2025. The programme was organised through a dedicated WhatsApp group to quickly mobilise member contributions, with all interventions channelled via verified GS divisions to ensure that assistance reached genuinely affected families.

Over four main relief days, essential support was delivered to impacted families in Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Jaffna and Mannar Districts. Assistance included cooked meals, dry rations packs, drinking water, mosquito nets and mats, reaching villages such as Sivapuram, Thenniyankulam, Ampalapperumalkulam, Koddakaddiyakulam, Rathinapuram, Muthuvinayakapuram, Silawaththai, Theonagar, Karainagar (Uuri), Nedunkandal, Mannar town, Thampanaikulam, Pannavedduvan and Velanai.

The Chapter also collaborated closely with external partners, including local GS officers, the Lions Club, JRSS North, STIDS and the staff of the University of Jaffna, Faculty of Technology, to expand the reach and effectiveness of the relief operations. As of 6 December 2025, IESL Vadakkin Chapter continues to monitor emerging needs and coordinate further verified assistance through GN/DS offices and local contacts, demonstrating the profession’s strong commitment to social responsibility and community resilience in times of crisis.
