Invitation for Expression of Interest (EOI) from Academic and Industry Professionals to Function as Accreditation Evaluators

The IESL is pleased to invite the interested Corporate Members to serve as Accreditation Evaluators for Evaluation to accredit Engineering and Engineering Technology Degree Programmes under following categories:
Academics – having experience over five years in the senior lecturer category
Industry Professionals - having 5 years of post-charter experience
As you are aware, the IESL oversees the Engineering Profession in Sri Lanka. As per its Charter and provisions of the Act No. 17 of 1968, the IESL is empowered to admit to membership, classify and confer titles indicating the professional standing of its members.
In fulfilment of its Charter obligations, the IESL has been responsible for the accrediting of engineering and engineering technology degree programmes in Sri Lanka according to the Washington Accord (WA) and Sydney Accord (SA) specified requirements respectively. This will benefit the Higher Education Providers (HEPs) through their receiving of feedback/recommendations to improve engineering degree programmes to levels comparable with global standards and specifications.
As such, the IESL periodically evaluates state and non-state undergraduate engineering degree programmes, duly approved by the University Grants Commission, conducted in Sri Lanka in accordance with WA and SA established criteria and procedures.

An honorarium is paid for each member of accreditation evaluation panel after successful completion of a degree evaluation process that consists of a Desk Review followed by Accreditation Evaluation Visit in hybrid format (Part online and balance by visiting HEPs)
Members who will provide EOI will be enlisted to a Pool of Evaluators and given a training/familiarization on degree evaluation processes by senior evaluators of the IESL. The IESL Accreditation Board (IESLAB) appoints panels for every evaluation appropriately selecting from the Pool of Evaluators. Past experience and demonstrated exemplary performance will be an added qualification when selecting the evaluators.
