IESL Annual Sessions Seminar 2019 in association with FEISCA
This year’s IESL Annual Sessions Seminar 2019 was held in association with the Federation of Engineering Institutions of South and Central Asia (FEISCA) on 15th October 2019 at IESL Wimalasurendra Auditorium. This was held as a part of the Inauguration of the 113th Annual Sessions of the IESL which was held on 14th of October 2019.
This year Annual Sessions Seminar saw heavy international Participation from FIESCA partner countries such as India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan. The theme for this year was “Innovative Engineering Solutions towards Sustainability in South and Central Asia”. The key focus of the Sustainable development has been the promotion of prosperity and economic opportunity, greater social well-being and protection of the environment. It is also commonly understood that these goals can only be achieved through international co-operation. However, due to the complexity of these goals, engineering plays a vital role in finding solutions to issues we face while achieving sustainable goals.
Addressing the audience President of the FEISCA Eng. J Meegoda also a Past President of the IESL stressed the importance of achieving sustainable goals through innovation and invention. The chief guest Eng. N Rupasinghe, the Secretary, Ministry of Megapolis & Western Development underlined the importance of achieving sustainability through regional collaboration.
Speaking ahead of the conference, Eng. (Prof) S B S Abayakoon – President Elect of the IESL said that sustainable goals are related to engineering and 3 of them are directly related to engineering.
