The IESL Day event for the year of 2017, was organized and successfully conducted on 6th May 2017 from 8.30am to 4.30 pm at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. The President IESL Eng. Jayavilal Meegoda graced the event with his presence as the Chief Guest. Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Rahula Attalage, President elect IESL Prof.Mrs. N. Rathnayaka, Dean Prof. K. K. C. K. Perera, Former CEB Chairman Eng. Anura Wijeyapala, Eng.T. S. Godakubura (AGM of CDL PLC), Dr. Jagath Manathunga and Dr.Mahesh Jayaweera (Senior Lecturers of Civil Engineering), Mr.Manju Gunawardena (Research Scientist SLINTEC) & Chairman YMS Eng. Dayan Herath, took part in the session as guests and resource personals. Also the Committee members from other state Engineering faculties in Sri Lanka and Undergraduates from all departments of the engineering faculty participated in the event.
Since the main objectives of the IESL day is to focus on addressing importance of IESL for the undergraduates, how to develop professional career after graduation, current issues faced by industry related to engineering , improvements of soft skills among undergraduate together with highly intellectual personals from the industry and well reputed entrepreneurs. Valuable feedbacks were gathered during the technical Session.

The technical speeches were delivered during the morning session and served as excellent medium of knowledge transfer between Senior Engineers and the Engineering Undergraduates. All the distinguished guests made presentations on important and interesting topics.
The afternoon session was based on soft skill development activities. Such as tallest building using card packs, Memory challenge game and finally we gave a task to determine current social problem in Sri Lanka and come up with a proper solution for it with engineering aspects. That task consists of poster presentation round and the best team was selected by panel consist of President IESL, Dean of Engineering faculty, Chairman YMS and Senior Treasurer of IESL UOM chapter.

Moreover the awarding of gifts to the winners of activities and presenting of Souvenirs to the distinguished guests were also part of the event as to be the memorable glimpses. |

|
The organizers would like to thank Eng. Jayavilal Meegoda (Prsident-IESL), Prof R. Attalage, Eng. Anura Wijeyapala, Eng. T. S. Godakumbura, Dr. Mahesh Jayaweera, Mr.Manju Gunawardena & Eng. Dayan Herath (Chairman-YMS) for the support rendered to make event a success. Further, we want to take this opportunity to thank the University administration for their support and extend our sincere gratitude to the Dean Prof.K.K.C.K.Perera and Prof.Mrs.N.Rathnayaka, for their guidance. The hard work and commitment of the IESL Student Chapter and the student chapter chairman Mr. Ashoka Pradeep and his team is not to be forgotten at this moment. |
