The IESL conducted a workshop on ‘Curriculum Mapping and Aligning Assessments’on January 16, 2017 as part of its commitment as a permanent member of the Washington Accord, the international mechanism for the mutual recognition of four (4) year engineering degree programmes among its signatory countries. Prof. Julia Lamborn from Australia was the resource person for the workshop and around 50 academics from universities and institutions providing 4 year engineering degree programmes in Sri Lanka participated. President of IESL, Eng. Jayavilal Meegoda welcomed the participants to the workshop.
The four year full time degree programmes accredited by the IESL will be considered as substantially equivalent to the four year degree programmes that have been accredited by the other signatories to the Accord. Australia, Canada, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, China, India, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Turkey, United Kingdom and United States are among permanent signatories to the accord.
Such workshops are held from time to time as part of the support that IESL provides as a signatory to the Accord, to institutions providing degree programmes and aspiring to achieve Washington Accord accreditation and mutual recognition of its 4 year degree programmes from member countries.
