IESL Engineering Excellence Awards 2013 – The Ultimate Prestige

Engineering Excellence Awards 2013, the premier event of the year for rewarding outstanding achievements by engineers and engineering enterprises organized by the IESL was held at the Cinnamon Grand on Tuesday, 24th September, 2013 from 7.00 pm onwards. Hon. Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Economic Development was the Chief Guest and Hon. Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Minister of Power and Energy was the Guest of Honour for the event.
The most prestigious award of the event, Eminence in Engineering Award ,was bestowed upon Eng. Subasinghe Arachige Don Hector Sam Subasinghe ( Eng.H.S Subasinghe), former General Manager of CEB best recognized for his pioneering role in setting up the Lanka Electricity Company (LECO), to take over the dilapidated electricity distribution network maintained by local bodies and introduction of novel concepts such as Pole Mounted Distribution Transformers, Pre-stressed Concrete Poles, Spot Billing System, etc. to the LECO as its founder chairman.
The Excellence in Engineering Awards were carried away by Prof. J. R. Lucas, Senior Professor of Electrical Engineering of the University of Moratuwa, in the field of Electrical Engineering and by Eng. Mangala P.B Yapa, the dynamic MD/CEO of Colombo Dockyard Ltd, in the discipline of Marine Engineering for his outstanding achievements in transforming the company in to a world class shipbuilder and repairer and the attendant prestige, transfer of technologies and earning of foreign exchange it brought to the country. | Inauguration of IESL Ampara District Centre and SEUSL Student Chapter |

The president IESL has ceremonially opened its Ampara District Centre and Student Chapter of the Faculty of Engineering at the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka Oluvil, at premises of the South Eastern University on 15th September 2013. The President of IESL Eng. Tilak De Silva was the Chief Guest.
This occasion was graced by , Eng. A.L.M. Nizar, Chairman of IESL Eastern province, Eng. Arjuna Manamperi -Chairman of ICT Committee of IESL, , and Dr. S.M. Junaideen, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, South Eastern University. Read more...

| Visit to the proposed site - IESL Eastern Provincial Centre and foundation stone laying ceremony |

The IESL Batticaloa District Centre has organized this event to commence the construction of the Eastern Provincial Centre for the IESL in the Batticaloa District with the direction of the Eastern regional Centre Chairman Eng.Nizar. This event took place at the Thiraimadu GN Division in the Manmunai North DS Division in the Batticaloa District.
The IESL President and guest were garlanded and warmly welcomed by the Batticaloa District committee members and conducted to proposed land. Read more...

2013 Membership Dues - Don't Delay Payments All membership fees are due on the 1st of the year (January 1, 2013).

Current IESL by Laws allow a grace period of unprecedented 11 months (Nov 30, 2013). Through the new Membership Management System, members who have not paid have been alerted via email and for this year only, reminder letters have been posted. When you login to the new system you will see the invoice and the methods to pay.
If not paid by Nov 30, 2013, the system will automatically remove the defaulters (on Dec 1, 2013) membership and electronic directories will not show their names. Losing membership means losing the Charter for the corporate members. All those who lose will have to go through a reinstatement process as per the by laws which is similar to obtaining a new membership under prevailing rules!!. Next year new laws will come into place to further tighten the process and grace periods. So please pay your dues and be considerate towards policies and ethics of the IESL. Contact Miss.
