It should be noted that the people in Northern Province depend on agriculture and fishing. Irrigation facilities are required to do various cultivation activities in the region. The people of this area did their cultivation with much difficulty during war times. But with the end of war in 2009, the things have changed a lot. People are provided with necessary irrigation facilities. Government has made arrangements to fulfill these requirements.

The Iranamadu Irrigation Development Project (IIDP) is an integral part of the holistic arrangement for the transfer of water to Jaffna on the one hand and the rehabilitation of the downstream canal system as demanded by the target group population. This also aims at improving the Iranamadu reservoir bund and head works to increase the reservoir’s water holding capacity.

One of the key needs of state universities of Sri Lanka would be to produce KSAM graduates (graduates with proper Knowledge, Skills, Attitude and Mind set) with high employability and communication skills in English.  Most of the graduates falling into this category would be able to find gainful employment with high pay within three months of completion of final year examination.

president corner

In this final month for the session I think it’s appropriate to highlight the activities so far carried out in the context of the overall objectives I laid out when I took over the presidency. ‘Use of technology to bring IESL to its members’ have been the overriding theme in all activities under this presidency. Therefore its natural that I convey my thoughts with passion with full benefits of multimedia facilities currently at IESL’s disposal.

History of digital SLEN to our membership.

I thought of narrating the history of digital SLEN to our membership.

Sri Lanka Engineers News ( SLEN ) went "fully digital" in August 2013, setting new standards in quality, original content, formats, and delivery in a publication even among regular public stream media publications! Certainly we can be very proud that IESL SLEN has no equal among news publications of professional bodies in Sri Lanka.
