IESL Rajarata Chapter Holds Successful AGM & Annual Session 2023/24

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Annual Session 2023/24 of the IESL Rajarata Chapter took place on January 31, 2025, bringing together a diverse group of engineering professionals for a day filled with insightful discussions, networking opportunities, and a shared vision for the future of engineering in Sri Lanka.
The event, which was marked by its dynamic presentations and collaborative atmosphere, was made possible thanks to the dedicated efforts of Eng. Sudath Rathnayake, Chairman of the IESL Rajarata Chapter for the 2023/24 session, and his executive committee. Their guidance and leadership were instrumental in ensuring the success of the event.
A highlight of the day was the presence of distinguished guests and speakers who contributed significantly to the event's success. Eng. Granie R. Jayalath, President of the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, offering valuable insights into the future direction of the engineering profession. Mr. Rajith Ariyarathne, Secretary of the Ministry of Urban Development, Construction, and Housing, served as the Guest of Honour, sharing perspectives on the vital role of engineering in Sri Lanka's urban development and infrastructure projects.
The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Yamada Tetsuya, Chief Representative of JICA Sri Lanka, who provided thought-provoking insights into the role of international collaboration in the growth and development of Sri Lanka’s engineering sector. Eng. Kosala Kamburadeniya, IESL President (Elect), was also in attendance as a Special Guest, offering a wealth of knowledge and vision for the future of the IESL and the engineering community at large.
The AGM and Annual Session provided a platform for members to engage in discussions on key issues impacting the profession and to set a collective vision for the year ahead. It was an invaluable opportunity to reflect on past achievements while also setting the stage for the future of engineering in Sri Lanka.
The event truly showcased the strength of collaboration within the IESL Rajarata Chapter and reinforced the chapter’s commitment to advancing the engineering profession in Sri Lanka.
The IESL Rajarata Chapter looks forward to another productive year and continued growth in its efforts to enhance the contributions of engineers to society.
