The civil engineers’ get-together organized,as a tour ofMalaysia by the CESC for the year 2013, was held from 18th to 21st September 2013.
50 engineers along with their family members totaling 105 took part in the tour. It was one of the most successful get-togethers organized by the CESC. This is the first time in the history of IESL, that an engineers’ get-together organized by a sectional committee was held in a foreign country.
President-Elect, Eng Shavidranath Fernando, Honorary Secretary, Eng Mangala Silva, Chairman Civil Engineering Sectional Committee, Eng. Prabodha Jinasena also participated in this tour.
The tour was organized by the Get-together Subcommittee headed by Eng Thummini Abewardane, Secretary, Civil Engineering Sectional Committee.
Participants enjoyed every moment of the tourwhich comprised of the following main events.
- Kuala Lumpur city tour including King’s Palace, National Monument, National Museum, National Mosque, Sultan Abdul Samad Building
- Visit to Putrajaya city
- KLCC aquarium
- Members Get-together and Gala dinner
- Full day at Sunway Lagoon Theme Park
- Cultural show at Saloma
- Visit to Royal Selangor Pewter factory
- Drive to the outskirts of the city
- Batik factory
- Batu Caves
Valuable prizes were given away to the winners of the raffle draws and winners of games organized for all ages. The feedback survey which was done immediately after the tour revealed that the tour was highly successful and all participants have thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the tour and request CESC to organize the next get-together also as a foreign tour.
