Mechanical Engineering Sectional Committee ( MESC) is delighted to inform that the above CPD course commenced on the 21st of June. With just three weeks notice, we had close to 60 participants. While the course registration is now closed for this round, details can be viewed at: http://www.iesl.lk/event-1956247 This course will be repeated in the future.
One of its two primary objectives is to provide the long awaited alternative path to obtain mandatory designs training for the Professional Review in the Mechanical Engineering Charter process for those engineers who don't have such opportunities in their places of work. In Sri Lanka, over the last few decades, activities related real mechanical engineering design work have diminished as the country jumped from an infant Industrial Economy to a full fledged Service Economy. This has greatly hampered the progress of Mechanical Engineers joining IESL as Associate Members.
During the course launch ceremony, Chairman of MESC, Eng. Arjuna Manamperi read a special message from The President of IESL, ( Dr) Eng. S B Wijekoon who was unable to attend due to an overseas trip. Read the President's message here.
As of June 5th 2015, there are 1,491 members with Mechanical Engineering as their Charter discipline and 1,082 of them are Associate Members.
Note to Mechanical Engineers; please check your membership profile in our membership management system to see whether your charter discipline is correctly identified by you and the IESL staff based on your original application for membership. If any issues, please contact nimesha@iesl.lk or des.mem@iesl.lk
This course was planned in detail, created, resourced by a dedicated Project Team within MESC. Many of our senior Mechanical Engineers are developing/conducting lectures within the course guidelines. We are paying for their professional services. We are conducting the course with the support of our very energetic and well lead CPD Committee. MESC worked on this from the beginning of 2014/2015 session and received the approval from the Professional Standards Management Committee in March to be presented to the Council. In April, the Council approved.
It's important to thank those dedicated volunteers who made this possible, so, please read our heartfelt thank you notes in the MESC Forum: http://www.iesl.lk/page-1579123/3344538
