The Stone Sculpture technology in ancient Sri Lanka, as used in sculpting the tallest free standing Buddha  statue in South East Asia, the Maligawila Buddha statue and the nearby  Dambegoda Buddha statue have been discovered to have used Critical Limited Stability, as a technique, in creating those great engineering feats. In the following article Eng. S.D.S Deshapriya discusses in detail the soundness of the ancient technique in today’s engineering principles and  advocates the need to make efforts to get it  recognition it as a World Heritage by the UNESCO.
