One of the key goals of the IESL Corporate Plan is “Facilitate members to develop and sustain high competencies and achieve leadership in all relevant, existing and emerging disciplines related to Engineering”. In order to supplement the dissemination of knowledge to engineers, IESL has been organizing number of seminars, conferences, annual sessions etc. However, as I pointed out in a previous editorial, we have found a lack of participation by our members in those activities. THE DELICACY OF ADJUDICATION |

The conventional meaning of the term ‘adjudication’ is settling a conflict between parties by a person of authority. In a narrow sense, it is deciding upon cases and referrals by judges or arbitrators. In a wider sense, any person or tribunal who decides upon rights and obligations of subjects can be regarded as involving themselves in the adjudication process. Thus an administrative tribunal in an official enquiry, or a school principal who decides upon a quarrel among school children, falls within its purview. Read more >>>

An LED lamp is a light-emitting diode (LED) product that is assembled into a lamp (or light bulb) for use in lighting fixtures.
Although electricity tariff has been modified recently; still generation cost of electricity is higher than the average selling price in Sri Lanka. Only way to reduce the electricity bill is improving the efficiency and the effectiveness of electricity usage. Lighting is a most essential and significant electricity requirement for the day today life. Incandescent lamp, compact florescent lamp (CFL) and light emitting diode (LED) lamps are the available technologies for lighting.
