Public Lecture on '“Legacy of a transport project- How engineers could contribute to develop a nation?” ‘(26 March 2018)
 

The Public Lecture organised by Mechanical Engineering Sectional Committee for year 2018 in collaboration with Civil Engineering Sectional Committee on “Legacy of a transport project- How engineers could contribute to develop a nation ?” was successfully held at the Wimaladharmasuriya Auditorium of Institute of Engineers Sri Lanka from 5.30 pm onwards on 26th March 2018.

 

The resource person was Eng. Sudath Amaratunga (BSc,Eng. MBA, MIE, C.Eng). who is a member of the Australian Senior Public Service with valuable experience in Major construction, Infrastructure development and Business operations and Management. He is working as a Senior Rail Professional for the unique Precincts and Infrastructure Group of TfNSW.

 

Eng. Sudath Graduated from University of Moratuwa , in Civil Engineering and is a Chartered Civil Engineer. He holds an MBA from UTS Sydney.

 

Eng. Sudath has demonstrated skills in his long illustrious career including Project and Design leadership, Conflict Resolution skills, Presentation Skills ( International speaker in more than 20 Rail Conferences), Financial Management and Change Management skills, Stakeholder Management Skills and Business Case Development and Project Evaluation Skills.

 

As a member of the leadership team of the project designing and duplicating the rail line from Quakers Hill to Schofields Eng. Sudath Amaratunga shared his insights on how a combination of engineering, design and project management complexities and challenges helped a social transformation working with many stakeholders including politicians.

 

The Mechanical Engineering Sectional Committee wishes to convey it's gratitude to all the parties who for their valuable contribution to make this event a great success.
