The next few weeks are very busy in IESL calendar. We just concluded a successful Induction and Graduation Ceremony in grand scale. The National Engineering Conference is organized under the theme of “Engineering -The digital Economy” at cinnamon Grand Hotel on 22nd September. The premier technology exhibition organized by IESL - “Techno 2017” will be held at BMICH from 13th to 15th of October in grand Scale.

When I look out from my office window, I can have a marvelous view of the gigantic Lotus Tower ( Nelum Kuluna) which is at the final stages of its completion. It’s going to be an Iconic structure in Colombo which will attract local and international tourists. One of the main objectives of The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) , who spearheaded the project was to use the lotus tower as a transmission hub for broadcasters.

Water pumps are generally equipped with induction motors that require especial starting methods. Some of the conventional induction motor starting methods are direct on line starting, star delta starting and using auto transformers. The Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka held its annual Induction and Graduation Ceremony for the year, 2017 on Friday, 25th August, 2017 at the Main Hall of the BMICH from 3.00 pm onwards. Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy, Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Vidya Jyothi Eng. (Prof.) KKYW Perera, Chancellor of the University of Moratuwa was the Guest of Honour at the event.

IESL Qatar Chapter's 2017 Flood Relief Program

The floods and mudslides occurred in the month of May 2017 have cost 200 Sri Lankan lives and also displaced more than 600,000 citizens. In this devastating time, IESL Qatar Chapter members and the management committee has come forward and collected a sum of about half a million rupees to aid few damaged schools.
