Dear Member of IESL,
It has been decided to launch a new Directory of Engineers in addition to the three existing ones to address certain critical engineering issues related to the development and upkeep of Large-scale Safety-critical Industrial and Service Systems that have started to play an increasingly determining role in our lives as Sri Lankans.
In this regard we wish to conduct a preliminary “tracer survey” to identify the available specialist resource base in the identified areas of expertise relevant to the new directory from among the membership of IESL and also from among the expatriate engineering community. The documents attached contain (i) an “Executive Summary” of the motivation for launching and scope of the new directory and (ii) a questionnaire to be answered and returned by relevant specialist engineers.
Data collected through the tracer survey will be used to form the initial interview and assessment panels for the relevant “Service Coverage” areas as defined in the “Executive Summary”.
Please answer the questionnaire and return within three weeks to Chairperson, PAC Sub-committee on LSIS Directory, The Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka, 120/15 Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo 7, Sri Lanka, or by e-mail, to devapriyad@pdn.ac.lk (the e-mail address of the Chairperson, PAC Sub-committee on LSIS Directory).
