One year in office as Editor of SLEN

I would like to thank all readers who sent in their suggestions and critical comments to improve the quality of the SLEN. IESL President, Eng. Tilak De Silva was always behind me to encourage the changes I proposed and his guidance was invaluable. Digital SLEN was a fruit of the efforts put by the ICT chairman, Eng. Arjuna Manamperi with the continuous back up of the President/IESL and I sincerely hope that it will blossom into a very popular IESL publication with a giant subscriber network. I quote his words “ …… the first ever multimedia enabled electronic newsletter of the IESL which is making its debut, as planned, in August, 2013. The video /audio features to the news and views contents are an experience as never before. It is brought literally to your doorstep, on the dot, as system generated e-mails directly to you. A very visible output of the Project Excellence, it would add to the many integrated services being made available to our members through a modern membership management system.”

 Corporate Plan

Through the new online Membership Management Software (Wild Apricot), you have been requested to go through the Corporate Plan and send your valuable comments. The Corporate Plan is now in your hands and if you have any proposals for action plans to uplift IESL to your dream IESL in next five years, this is your chance!

Can we help Master Pubudu Kapuge..?

Would you believe that Pubudu from Mihintale who won the first award in the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Category at the Intel Grand Awards Ceremony for his ridge cutting machine did not follow advanced level studies in math stream? He just completed his A/L this year and IESL feels that we all should help him; he MUST have an engineering education. His home is 56 km away from Anuradhapura and unless IESL members come forward with their voluntary contributions, this multi talented bright kid may end up somewhere else. You can always contact us if you really feel this kid will be better off with your assistance.
