The ceremonial launch of Techno Sri Lanka - 2014, the National Engineering and Technology Exhibition, the flagship event of the IESL, to be held for its 29th consecutive year on 10th,11th and 12th October 2014 at the BMICH, was held at the Hotel Galadari on Friday, May 23rd – 2014 from 5.30 pm onwards in the presence of a large audience comprised of sponsors, special invitees, guests, well-wishers, past presidents, Council members, members of the organizing committee and IESL staff.
Mr. AravindaPerera, Managing Director – Sampath Bank was the Chief Guest and Guest Speaker for the event.
The best of its kind to be held in Sri Lanka, the event is a beacon for the transfer of technology towards scientific and technological excellence of the profession and relatedindustry in the country.
Each year since its inauguration in 1985 the event has brought forth the latest in technologies, products, skills and best practices from the world over to its target audience while maintaining optimum standards both in quality and quantity.
A platform to showcase and promote brand names, products and services the Techno has added features for harnessing stakeholder talents and skills towards providing the best window of opportunity for the new as well as seasoned entrepreneurs and organizations under one roof.
The diversified , informative, state-of-the-art and educative nature of the stalls exceeding 250 has won appreciations and accolades from the engineering community and also earned national and global recognition and the reputation, to be branded as one of the best of its kind in the SAARC region, if not Asia.
While the prestige of being associated with Techno Sri Lanka has given the entrepreneurs and organizations wishing to share the limelight and the year by year number of visitors to the stalls has seen a tremendous increase probably due to the many special features that have been gradually added to the exhibition.
The depiction and display of ongoing and proposed mega infrastructural and other development projects includingthe North and East development, Metro Colombo Development Project etc. will find their places for enlightening the visitors about the unprecedented development work the country is witnessing.
The display of winning inventions by school children under the Junior Inventor of the Year Program, pioneered by the IESL as far back as 1988 to inculcate and promote creativity and innovation among school childrenand which has seen its student protégées participating and winning at the Intel ISEF competition in USAwillfind expressions at a special pavilion for the purposeas they did at the previous Techno exhibitions. A special ‘Under-Graduate Category’ has been added from year 2012 and will find space within the JIY area this year too.
The TechnoSri Lanka 2014 would endevour to strengthen the links between the suppliers of engineering products and services and the relevant government institutions, with a view to facilitating mutual awareness of their resources and potential in fulfilling their needs, objectives and aspirations.
