YMS 'Talk to School' Program at Sri Sangabodhi Central College, Katukenda

Young Members Section of IESL in collaboration with IESL Wayamba Chapter and Engineering Faculty of the University of Jayewardenapura, organized the next chapter of the Talk to School program on April 20th at Sri Sangabodhi Central College, Katukenda.
As the honorable guests for the occasion Eng. K P I U Dharmapala, the President of the IESL and the principal of the college, Mr. Dharmapriya Pathirana joined us. Furthermore, the President of IESL YMS, Eng. Damith Dissanayake, Chief Engineer of CEB, Eng. Lakmali Karunanayake, Wennappuwa Divisional Electrical Engineer at CEB, Eng. Nilush Jayawardhane, Director of Infinity Engineering Company, Eng. Thilina Dissanayake and Eng. Indika Jayasooriya joined hands with this event. By representing the college, students from Grade 9 to 13 took part in this occasion.
The event started at 8.30 AM by lighting the oil lamp with the representation of all the distinguished guests, the college principal, school staff, engineering students, and school students. After the welcome speech Eng. Damith Dissanayake, President of IESL YMS addressed the gathering by explaining the purpose of the Talk to School program. Then we played the YMS video to showcase the YMS journey and the Impact we created as YMS.
The first motivational speech was done by the Director of Infinity Engineering Company, Eng. Thilina Dissanayake on “Learning how to learn”. Uvindu Thilakarathne, an undergraduate from Jayewardenapura University, addressed the gathering by convincing the value of entering the university education after playing a beautiful video clip about the university. Wennappuwa Divisional Electrical Engineer at CEB, Eng. Nilush Jayawardhane did a speech on “Engineering profession and the role of an Engineer” after the tea break. Undergraduates of Jayewardenapura University hosted an IQ contest among school students and the winners were awarded with gifts. Then the second motivation speech was done by Eng. Damith Dissanayake, President of IESL YMS on “How to address social issues ''.
Moving forward with the proceedings Chief Engineer of CEB, Eng. Lakmali Karunanayake did a timely discussion on Energy Management. By making the occasion colorful, students at University of Japura presented an entertainment item. Everyone who was in the audience enjoyed the item a lot by giving a round of applause. Then Eng. Indika Jayasooriya gave a speech related to “Water and Environment’’.
Reaching the last few hours of the event we gave the audience to school students to express their thoughts about the program. The principal, Mr.Dharmapriya Pathirana, addressed the gathering by giving the vote of thanks. Talk to school this chapter ended up by cherishing the moment, around 1.30 PM successfully by enlightening the school students’ minds.
