Young members section of IESL successfully conducted the 1st field visit of 2017/2018 session on 16th November 2017 to Lotus Tower.
IESL student chapter of Open University of Sri Lanka requested to arrange a visit to Lotus Tower (Nelum Kuluna) from the chairman, YMS. After the identifying the requirements of student members of OUSL student chapter, the field trip was organized on 16th November 2017.
Due to several limitation of providing facility for field visits, the project team of Lotus Tower requested to limit the team to 25 visitors per trip. Therefore 22 visitors including OUSL academics, Civil & Electrical student participated in the visit. Eng. Dayan Herath Chairman, YMS Eng. Thilina Rajapaksha Chairman - Young Professionals, IET and Eng. Tharaka Abesekera were also participated.

Lotus tower is 350m (1150 ft) height and it will be the tallest tower in South Asia after completion. It will be used for communication, observation and leisure facilities. During the field visit Eng. Anura Kumarapeli explained the design and construction of the Lotus tower to the student of IESL- OUSL student chapter.
Chairman, IESL-OUSL Student chapter stated " We would like to thank the TRCSL, CEIEC and the Lotus Tower Project Management Team, the IESL and the YMS for giving us this great opportunity by sharing latest technology, design and knowledge." while his thanking speech.

Chairman, YMS stated “Arranging field visits to update the knowledge of young Engineers and student members is one of the main events in YMS calendar & the committee consider it as a responsibility”. “I would like to convey my gratitude to Mr.Jayathilake (DG-TRCSL), Eng.Shantha (PD-Lotus Tower Project) Eng.Anura Kumarapeli (PE-Lotus Tower Project), Prof.Manawadu (PCU), Mr.Cai (PM-CEIEC) and the council of IESL for giving this opportunity" he further stated. |
