Mobitel Stage VII Network Expansion Project
 

Mobitel ‘Stage VII Network Expansion Project’; which is one of the largest ever network expansion executed as a distinct project in the country’s telecommunication history, reached another milestone by winning most prestigious PMI Award for Project Excellence by the Project Management Institute (PMI) USA. This was awarded at their annual professional award gala held in 10th Oct 2015 at Orlando, Florida, USA. This could be name as one of the highest honor received for project management profession not only for the company, but also for the entire nation. This mega Telecommunication Engineering Project was commenced in year 2012, primarily focusing on developing mobile network coverage in rural areas, where ICT reachability is minimum or non-existed.

 

The Stage VII Project was planned to add 30% to the existing network which includes 1530 Base stations, 700 Transmission links and 430 Heavy Duty Greenfield Towers to the network while bringing cutting edge technology to the masses. The primary objectives of Stage VII Network Expansion Project were enhancing coverage and capacity in rural areas, introducing state of the art 4G (LTE) to the suburbs, upgrading the existing network with cutting-edge features to achieve superior customer services and enhancing the network redundancy.
