On 28th June 2026, IESL President Eng. Kosala Kamburadeniya and Chairman of the Building Services Sectional Committee, Eng. Mohan Wijesinghe, participated in a special discussion on "Irida Ayubowan" aired on Sri Lanka Rupavahini. The discussion highlighted the growing importance of fire safety in Sri Lanka, emphasizing the urgent need to strengthen fire safety regulations, promote compliance with internationally accepted standards, and make fire safety measures mandatory in buildings to better protect lives and property. The programme also featured the upcoming International Conference on Fire Safety and Compliance 2026, organized by the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL). The conference will bring together industry professionals, policymakers, academics, and international experts to discuss emerging trends, best practices, and innovative solutions for enhancing fire safety and regulatory compliance in Sri Lanka. IESL remains committed to creating awareness, fostering knowledge sharing, and supporting the development of safer buildings and communities through engineering excellence.
