Dear Members,
IESL Committee on Grievances
We are pleased to inform you that a Committee on Grievances has been officially established by the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL).
This initiative stems from the recognition that in the past, members have faced injustices and victimization due to unfair treatment by superiors and politically influenced decisions—often without the opportunity for a fair hearing. The previous grievance redress mechanism served as a platform to address such concerns, and this new committee is a continuation and will certainly strengthen that effort.
As resolved by the General Membership, this committee will consist of three Past Presidents who have retired from their official duties. Appointed at the AGM, they will be tasked with investigating cases of political and professional victimization affecting engineers and the engineering profession. Their findings and recommendations will be submitted to the IESL Council, which will then take the necessary steps to engage with political authorities within one month of receiving the report.
If any member believes, that s/he had been subjected to political victimization or professional injustice, they are now encouraged to submit their grievances through this official channel. Such cases should be reported to the email of CEO/Executive Secretary es@iesl.lk.
This is a significant step towards protecting the integrity of our profession and ensuring that engineers are treated with fairness and respect.
Sincerely,
IESL Secretariat
