Unveiling of Immediate Past President’s Portrait – Eng. Professor (Mrs.) Niranjanie Ratnayake (2017/2018 session)

The portrait of Eng. Professor (Mrs.) Niranjanie Ratnayake, Immediate Past President of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka was unveiled by Eng. Professor T M Pallewatta, President of the IESL, at a ceremony attended by Past Presidents and Council Members on  Friday, 2nd August 2019 at around 4.30 pm.

Eng. Professor T M Pallewatta, President of IESL, described Eng. Professor (Mrs.) Niranjanie Ratnayake’s presidency said that it is one of the outstanding and significant eras in the history of the institution. Her contribution in legalizing the Engineering Council Act and reviewing FTAs are exceptional. Besides successfully holding all the regular functions, National Engineering Conference was held outside Colombo for the first time in the history of the institution.

Addressing the audience, Eng. Professor (Mrs.) Niranjanie Ratnayake said that becoming the president of the institution which has a history over 100 years is a great privilege and a honour one can achieve in his lifetime. She expressed her sincere gratitude to all the members who tirelessly contributed to the achievement of many goals during the session, by serving in the Council, Standing Committees and Sectional Committees, Young Members’ Forum and Women Engineers’ Forum, Techno Committee, Overseas Chapters, Provincial Chapters and District Centers, and various other ad-hoc committees. Finally, she said that it is her and the Women Engineers Forums dream is to see many more photos of Women Engineers adorning the wall of the Council Chamber in the near future.
