| IESL Overseas Chapters |

I am penning this column on the eve of my departure to New Zealand for the inauguration of the IESL overseas chapter in Auckland. This will be the 4th such overseas chapter of the institution; other existing ones being the chapters in NSW Australia, Western Australia and Qatar.
Overseas Chapters have been set up with the aim of reaching out to our globally dispersed membership enabling them to have access to membership services of the IESL.

| Engineers against Corruption |

Recently, one of my batch mates invited me to join a facebook group called “engineers against corruption”. It was with a good intention and without any hesitation that I joined that group. However, it made me to think of various other things. Are there engineers supporting corruption? If so, why?
As engineers, we have learnt ethics while in the universities. Then we have taken an oath when we received our charter certificate saying that we would not be involved in such corruption.

| Improving SLEN Content |

Dear Editor, In 2014, I remember reading few articles written by previous SLEN Editors when we celebrated the creation of SLEN. Almost all of them said one thing in unison - SLEN will be as good as its content and features such as its color, medium, etc. would be secondary. I couldn't agree more then and now.
We certainly need to upgrade the general content of SLEN.

Express provisions in this regardare embodied in the ‘FIDIC Conditions of Contract-For Building and Engineering Works Designed by the Employer- 1999 Edition’(FIDIC New Red Book) onwards.
Besides, when one examines the standard forms previously practiced, ICE/ FIDIC model for instance, it would be revealed that preventive measures were intrinsicallyavailable there within.
